Alone was written and composed very quickly. Jessie sent a voice memo to the Esteems groupchat and after two practices we had the song nailed down. It was recorded in early January of 2020, and mastered in February.

The song was written about the feeling you get when you're out socializing and finding it hard to connect to someone else. It seems given its release date it might be about being inside and feeling the same.

We encourage that you take whatever meaning you can get from your listens, and either remember awkward night outs fondly, or look to the future when we can all be alone on the dancefloor together someday.
